4-year long fully funded PhD position at the Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria

A 4-years long full funding for a PhD candidate to perform DFT studies on bulk alloys is now available in the group of David Holec at the Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria.

The position is available from March 2018. The project will also involve an intensive collaboration with our experimental co-workers, from alloy synthesis to high-resolution material characterisation (transmission electron microscopy, atom probe tomography, etc.)

The candidate will be expected to participate also in teaching activities at our Department (exercises, couple of hours each term) which implies that the applicant should speak fluently German.

Previous knowledge of DFT is not a prerequisite, but will be considered advantageous. The candidate is expected to have an MSc or equivalent degree in Materials Science (preferred), Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry, should be open to learn new things, should be computer-literate (basic of coding/scripting are required, knowledge of Unix/Linux would be welcome), ready to communicate also in English (fluent written and oral), and a fair team-player.

The applications are welcome to be submitted electronically via http://www.unileoben.ac.at/index.php?id=2780 (Reference number 1801WPE, see also attachment) before the deadline on February 19th, 2018.
